Media Release School District 10 Derek O’Brien, Superintendent December 2011
This has been an extremely fast fall term and I cannot believe how quickly the Christmas vacation seemed to approach. Schools are tidying up work in their classrooms and preparing for plays, presentations, and concerts that come with the Christmas season. Our high schools are quite different in that students and teachers are seeing how few weeks are left before the end of this semester and how much important curriculum there is to learn. Regardless of the pressures of our work, it is a wonderful time of year and we will all certainly appreciate the days of vacation that are close.
The Christmas vacation throughout the province will begin on Friday, December 23 and students will return to classes on Monday, January 9. Schools will close early on Friday, December 23 so please check with your child’s school for specific dismissal times.
The 2011-2012 school year will continue at a rapid rate once we return from the holidays. Our focus on learning and our dedication to students remain strong. We work together to educate, motivate, and empower students so they experience success in everything they do.
On behalf of everyone in School District 10, have a happy and safe holiday, and all the best in 2012!
School District 10 comprises 16 schools and approximately 4 000 students in Charlotte County. Educate, motivate, and empower!
