Live S.M.A.R.T. ( Smile Manners Attitude Respect Try)

The mission of the Vincent Massey Elementary School is that all students will perform to the best of their abilities.

GOALS

84% of all grade K-2 students are currently reading at grade level. Our goal is to have 90% of all K-2 students reading at grade level in June.

72% of our students are meeting grade 2 writing standards. Our goal is to have 80% of grade 2 students meeting writing standards.

SPECIAL PROJECTS
Every year the school focuses on one theme where the whole school will become involved. This is decided sometime in the first term to be organized and worked on during the second term with an open house usually in April. Examples: “Literacy”, “Inventions”, and this year it was “Heritage”.
“Artist in Residence Program” focus for next every on the primary grades, where this year the grades 4-6 students made masks.
Intensive Core French for Grade 5 first term and then extra time for the Grade 6 students, exact time to be determined before June 22, 2004

Literacy Night for all grades… PJ Party Thurs., Jan. 26, 2006 in VMES Gym

District 10 Chess Tournament – Algonquin Hotel, St. Andrews , NB February 27 th – 9 AM till finished

Provincial Chess Tournament – St. Stephen High School – April 8 th – 8:30 AM till finished.

Eco – Fair April Fair April 21 st

Sunbury Shores Art Visits all year long for Art lessons for K-6

Skating in the month of February for the whole school

Intensive Core French Grade 5 First Term only this year due to only one Grade 5 class – will finish end of January 2006 and they will continue receiving an extended French class only

Grade 6 continue to receive extended French in Grade 6
