MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Deer Island Community School is, in partnership with the community, to continue to provide a warm, safe, friendly environment that is conducive to learning. We will create an atmosphere that installs self-confidence, responsibility and determination that will prepare our students for the next stage in their educational growth.

GOALS
To improve literacy skills
To provide more opportunity for students to read
To encourage reluctant readers
To employ the use of technology in teaching the curriculum, in as many areas as possible
To have each teacher address the individual needs of each child in their classroom
To introduce monthly activity afternoons
To introduce soccer and cross country to the athletic program
To introduce a regular PE program
To introduce personal development and career planning to grades 3-8
To have the school participate in: a Heritage Fair and Science Fair
To continue to develop facilities
To continue to emphasize respect
To introduce a monthly awards program
