MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Pennfield Elementary School is to provide a positive learning environment that develops the whole child by providing opportunities for students to learn and achieve within a supportive community.

GOALS
Continue to focus on literacy so that all students can read by the end of grade 2.
Professional development will increase involving use of technology by teachers as well as students in the classroom.
Investigate multi-age math programs for Grades 3 & 4

STRATEGIES
Continue focus on literacy by where students are involved in multi-age groups.
Seek additional resources and professional development on differentiated instruction.
Continue developing PES discipline model.

SPECIAL INITIATIVES & EVENTS
"Chess K-4" and "Children & Music K-4" which received the NBTA Learning Team Grant of $1000 with the childrens' first performance "Pennfield School's Evening Christmas Concert".

Received a $650 grant from "Schools and Communities In Action" promoting Physical Education to purchase new equipment.

Received the "KaBOOM!HomeDepot Playing Field Refurbishment Grant" of $5000 to complete our play area which was fenced in last year along with receiving $2200 from the "LSD of Pennfield" to assist with our fundraising efforts.

Community Helpers Visiting - Fire Dept to speak on fire safety, Saint John Seadogs to celebrate the importance of Reading and the RCMP to speak on Citizenship.

The Terry Fox Walk had our students participating in fundraising for the Cancer Society.

"Celebrate Winter" Feb 12th-16th  included our 100th Day, Valentines Day and Flag Day celebrations.

K-4 Core French Fairy Tales Performances involved our students performing their favourite fairy tales orally in french to their peers.

Our "Peer Helpers Program" provides our students in grades 3 & 4 opportunities to take part in school events such as our recycling program and playground pals.
